Elite WaterSports - Welcome to the Neighborhood!

I noticed the Elite Watersports site on 22nd Ave starting to go up, and what a great job they did! Their attractive storefront right off the highway down to the Skyway Bridge where they do their lessons, is a great addition to the neighborhood! They celebrated their grand opening and have been going strong for the last 4 months! We decided to check out some lessons and learn something different! Since Kite Boarding and some other things take longer to learn, we decided to try e-Foil.

We got to the Skyway Beach and found their big van. I set up a beach umbrella tent, because you didn't think I was going to try this? Paul, with his background as a surfer, and general good athlete got right out there and got up within the first minute. He spent the hour riding around wiping out and getting back up again. He had such a great time that he's going to go back next weekend to give it another try.

We caught up with Elite Watersports owner Aaron to ask him some questions about the new shop.

What inspired your move to the current location? 

As a family ran business we dreamed about finding a location to own and no longer rent. We had to be close to the highway for access. We also wanted to start over and make it our own. We took the building that was abandoned and made amazing.

How long did it take to get up and running here. Was it a smooth ride?

We were in Skyway Marina District for 8 years. It was slow at first but grew to where we are now. Our new location has certainly lost our momentum but it will soon change once everyone knows where we moved. 

What do you like most about your new location and neighborhood?

The access to the interstate is nice. The local neighborhoods are improving and we have the support of our closest neighbors.  

How'd you get started in this business?

We live in St Pete. It's surrounded by water. Why would you not want to work on the water or in that industry?
