Coming Soon! For this blog post I'll be heading to the Pioneer Settlement over in Boyd Hill Nature Center.
While you're waiting for this blog post to have real content, here's some riveting information I'll be drawing from, from my trip to the St. Petersburg Museum of History

Amazing, how the vision and persistence of yesterday gives us the city we so enjoy today! A competing vision for the city had the waterfront used as an industrial port.

Wow, the story of this railroad is epic! How Demens got hold of the railway charter in the first place, and then how Disston, whose holdings were about 10% of Florida land (we did the math) couldn't get Demens to bring the railway to Gulfport, but instead to St. Pete, (where BTW surveyors said it should go) despite it being much less financially advantageous, is an incredible tale of high stakes winners and losers. I can't wait to get on the Pinnellas Trail and ride the old Orange Belt RR line that put St. Pete on the map!
