We’re off to a great start on the cleanup day! We split up into two teams. One team trimmed back the overgrowth on the sidewalks and collected brush, the other team collected litter.
I baked some lemon olive oil cakes (my go to lately!) to enjoy as a treat after the hard work!
We had cold water and supplied gloves and sunscreen. Everyone met someone they didn’t know before, and that’s 50% of the reason to have neighborhood events!
The neighborhood is looking better than it did yesterday and more importantly we all showed our care for the neighborhood where we live.

Hi Friends! Let's do a neighborhood cleanup!
July 6, 9am-12pm. We'll clean up brush, trim back the overgrowth that make the sidewalks unwalkable, pick up trash in the alleys. And have a great time making Fruitland Heights shine from the outside in!
We'll meet at the big grass lot on the corner of 21st Ave and 18th St.
Get to know your neighbors and celebrate the weekend together!

Ok, I'll try not to bore you all, but OMG we've been working on this house every day for about 6 months. We've been doing really impactful but boring stuff like insulation and shoring up the ceiling, and really pretty blinging stuff like adding a second bathroom with a cool doorless shower, landscaping with uplighting, and making an awesome hex paver patio! The last thing we did - staining the fence, with Olympic atlas cedar stain and ebony stain, was really fun and just the icing on the cake. Most creative touch - when i repainted the walkway, I masked hexagons with painters tape, so the walkway has a hexagon look. Most FL dream touch - a clusia hedge with seashell bed.
This is my first home. I owned a coop in NY before, but that's a very different experience. I'm so excited and happy. I hope we'll find a great tenant to enjoy all the touches we added.
We added a light in the shower! It's so pretty. I got those hex tiles at the Restore. We had just enough to finish the project!
I've always wanted wainscoting!
